Cultural Topics in East Asian Literature (4.0 units)

Selected themes, genres, and periods in East Asian literature, e.g., Taoism and Buddhism, women, folktales.
  • Note: Please register for a SINGLE SECTION of the course. Section 25307 examines the culinary culture of Japan and the aesthetics of Japanese food through contemporary literature, art, TV, and film. Section 25319 explores how sex and gender are represented in literature and multimedia in China and Japan from the seventeenth to the early twentieth century.
