Japanese I (4.0 units)
Basic Japanese conversation practice, basic grammar and building proficiency of reading and writing Hiragana and Katakana (Japanese alphabetical systems) and some basic kanji (Chinese characters).
- Note: D-clearance for this course is available at language.usc.edu. Students with previous exposure to Japanese are required to take the placement exam. After Week 1, registration in this course requires instructor approval and D-clearance. Check "Exceptions" in the final exam schedule for the time and date of the final exam for this course.
