Explore how the development of various classes of anti-cancer drugs came about: the rationales behind their design, what was discovered about their biochemical mechanisms of action and whether their clinical activities came up to the original expectations. Other aspects such as the origin of the concepts of combination chemotherapy and biochemical modulation will also be addressed.
