North American Indian societies, their major cultural themes,ethnological significance, and comparability with Western Europeancultural forms; lectures, visual, and indigene demonstrations.

Analysis of the practices of witches and witch doctors, priests, diviners and traditional healers in Western and non-Western societies, relating their practices to religion and medicine.

Interdisciplinary examination of social, personal meanings of masculinity; variety of male experience by social class, race, sexuality, and age; emerging masculinities of the future.

Real-world work experience in an internship position, while also learning to apply anthropological theory and research methods to complete a related research project. Enrollment requires permission from department.

Historical and theoretical approaches to major issues in the field of human evolutionary biology. Capstone course in which students will undertake an original independent research project. Prerequisite: HBIO 200Lg.

Continuation of 501, focusing on current models, methods and issues in social anthropology.

Women and immigration, employment, and household and family relations in the context of the global economy; women's social and political movements in diverse cultural contexts.

A hands-on laboratory based survey of post-production technologies, including editing both new and older footage. Students should be finishing their own documentaries.
