USC Schedule of Classes

Fall 2016

Data Sciences and Operations 428:

Data Warehousing and Data Mining (4.0 units)

Introduction to data-warehousing, multidimensional database, on-line analytical processing, and survey of data mining methods that extract useful information from data warehouses. Business applications emphasized. Duplicates credit in former IOM-428.
  • Note: The course will offer an overview of key concepts of big data and related digital technologies and provide hands-on experiences at introductory level so students from different backgrounds WITH NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE ON DATA AND TECHNOLOGIES would know how to work with big data in a real firm using state-of-the-art digital tools (Google Analytics, Tableau, Hadoop, Data Miner). The course will also prepare students for a range of data related jobs (marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, management).
