Issues in Sustainability

Section 64947

  • Note: In this writing-intensive course, we will focus on developing critical reasoning and rhetorical skills within the topical field of Sustainability. Sustainability, or Sustainable Development, is a movement that attempts to balance the concerns of the environment, the economy and social justice. Our in-class discussions and writing activities will probe the issues stemming from the complex relationships bound up in the these three overlapping realms, such as global warming, poverty in developing nations, consumer culture, and loss of biodiversity, to name a few. Our analytical purpose in approaching these issues will address the ethical challenge of how best to act to cause the least harm.
